This is for those H264 junkies out there. Thanks to cornbreadman who volunteered to do our H264 encodes.

  1. Awesome. I’m glad you guys are doing a “HD” version.

  2. whaaaat. *now* you’re doing the mkv?!
hm. i’ll probably still get it. thanks.
oh, have corrections been made to the odd typos and such?

    any news on ep 09?

  3. Mission-E 09 is currently undergoing QC. That will be released as a standard SD/Xvid avi file.

We are doing the HD releases in the mkv container. We are going over translations looking for errors before releasing the HD’s but we’re not perfect. We can always use an extra set of eyes to review the translation and wording.

  4. Banzai! Banzai! Banzai!

    XD

    THX a lot, guys! 1280×720 h264… I couldn’t ask for more! ^^

  5. Being the videophile I am, this may get me to watch the series. I was pretty underwhelmed with the first episode and dropped it right there. I couldn’t fathom why you guys only released xvid, but there really was nobody to encode better ones? I didn’t think encoders were exactly scarce… It’s not exactly difficult… well whatever. I’m glad you guys are releasing these in HD. If you guys need an extra TLC, I’d be happy to oblige. I can be a grammar-Nazi when I need to be. You should really get an IRC channel. Well, in any case, best regards and thanks for the HD release.

  6. well, i’ll rewatch the series sometime again (i did it recently, after marathoning code-e), and if i catch any errors, I’ll just post them here?

  8. Not to insult cornbreadman, but that is not a quality encode. Although the problem could also be from a low quality raw. I wish I could get a hold of the HD raws, but it looks like any I can find aren’t being seeded anymore.

  9. The raws are quite blocky/noisy in the low luma scenes and the colors are rather washed out too. The top edge of the frames is also a bit messed up. Cornbreadman wanted to crop the raw to 1024×576, but I asked him not to. More processing could probably improve things though. For instance adjusting the saturation, maybe adding some grain to breakup the blockiness and using fft3dfilter to clean up the raw. Also a little warpsharp would probably help too.

  10. Well It’s hard to work with a RAW that’s 720p in a DivX coded format
and there’s really not a whole lot you can do without washing out the video making it even worse then before.

  11. Admittedly, DivX needs to go and burn in a fire. It’s long overdue. I don’t suppose you could put the raws up on a bot or torrent if you must. Not guaranteeing any returns, but as a favor and I’d like to take a shot at it.
